Aquarium of the Bay is also located at Pier 39. This marine nature center has more than 20,000 aquatic animals, and a walk through crystal clear tunnels puts you just inches from sharks, octopus, and other marine animals. There are daily feedings, tours, and presentations.
The Golden Gate Bridge is a must see amazing structure with a fantastic view of the city, water, and boats. This most photographed engineering masterpiece was built in 1937 and has always been a major attraction. The walk across the bridge is 1.7 miles.
A must do is a Cable Car Ride. The cars began running in 1873. You can hop off and on as you go past attractions, or you can just ride a car and listen to the tour guides extensive knowledge of the city and sense of humor.
Alcatraz is an island with a long history including detaining notorious criminals in the federal penitentiary such as Al (Scarface) Capone, George (Machine Gun) Kelly, and Birdman Robert Stroud. The island also contains Civil War buildings, marine wildlife, sea birds, plus rare plants and flowers.
The San Francisco Zoo is open 365 days a year, and admission is free the first Wednesday of each month. There are an amazing number of animal exhibits and a childrens zoo where they can pet some of the animals.
